Murals are painted onto almost any surface, provided sufficient preparation is carried out. This might include canvas, timber, plaster, tiles, on floors, ceilings, or on architectural details. Fresco painting, or buon fresco , is carried out using pigments with water on thin layers of fresh wet plaster. Secco painting is carried out using pigments with a binder such as egg yolk (tempera), painted onto dry plaster.
All mural works are carried out by a team of fine artists and muralists from conception to completion. We work closely with the client to sketch and work up concept plans to meet the client's needs, before creating the finished mural. The conservation and restoration of mural and fresco paintings is carried out by our skilled conservation practitioners. Mural work can be carried out in the studio on canvas or panels, or directly in situ. We have produced a range of interior and exterior murals, for public and private clients in a range of settings including churches, commercial buildings, private dwellings and swimming pools. The choice of material and medium will be dependent on the nature of the project, but may include pigment, mineral, acrylic, gouache, alkyd and oil.
